Learn how to use Remind to send out text message blasts to your students to remind them of upcoming tests, assignment due dates, field trips, and other events. Remind gives you a safe, quick, and user-friendly way to text students and their parents. Discussed in 4/28/2020 Office Hour.
Today's Office Hour include a special sharing of Zoom breakout rooms, the app Remind, sources of teaching resources and more. This is the last Office Hour in a series for this quarter. Presented in the Consortium Office Hour on 4/21/2020 (see Video below), here is the most updated power point shared by Bob Lanz.
In this Office Hour, Bob Lanz (Foothill College and Palo Alto Adult School ESL Instructor) presented a survey of resources he has found useful in teaching online--including beginning literacy "friendly." This included Ventures Arcade, Padlet and Quizziz. Other resources were shared throughout the hour as it related to student participation and engagement. We discussed the option of breakout rooms in Zoom. Additionally, we discussed some CAEP/CDE/CASAS updates and strolled through the COVID-19 p
This is great for recording and demonstrating skills, modeling how to do homework activities, sharing information, creating flash cards (say and repeat) for beginning ESL, and more. It's easy as discussed in the 4/14/2020 Office Hour.
This Office Hour discussed simulation software for hands-on courses and virtual labs. In addition, attendees learned about how to make a power point presentation into a movie with voice over using the power point software. Attendees shared best practices and gave updates on student support items such as Foothill's first virtual orientation for prospective ESL students. Finally, updates were given with regard to WIOA and CASAS post testing and budget.
